I applaud you for being open to change, as hard as that might be! As far as tools, I recommend focusing on Figma as much as possible, since that is currently the industry-standard program for designing. Illustrator, Photoshop, and other apps from the Adobe Suite should count as "secondary tools" depending on the needs of the project.

I would not let any limiting beliefs of age stop you from entering this career. I've seen talented designers and leaders of all ages.
